La mutazione PRNP D178N (129M omozigote), madre e zia sono entrambi morti di FFI. I sintomi sono apparsi 3 mesi fa, manifestati come difficoltà ad addormentarsi, frequenti risvegli notturni (> 20 volte a notte) e lieve declino della memoria.
